LIFE IN COLONIAL AMERICA

PEOPLE, FINANCES, FOUNDERS, AND HOW CHILDREN ARE RASIED

GROUPS OF PEOPLE

  • France, Germany, Spain
  • Netherlands, Sweden,
  • Catholics and the Jewishh
  • They came for freedom,
  • money, and to practice religion
The groups of people that came to Colonial America, are France, Germany, Netherlands, Spain, Sweden, Catholics, and the Jewish.
They came came for freedom, money, and religious rights. Even though they thought they were free, they were still under ruling of the king.

FAMILY LIFE/CHILDREN

  • Boys helped men with chores
  • Women trained girls to be mothers
  • Only boys could go to school
  • Girls helped around the house
  • Children would turn their chores into games
Around the farm, boys helped their fathers with chores. The girls would help their mothers and the mothers would teach their young girls to be mothers. Boys were aloud to go to school, however, girls would help around the house. When doing chores, usually, the children would decide to turn their chores into fun games. Most of the time, families lived in wooden houses with fire as their main source of light.

COLONIAL ECONOMY/FINANCES

  • Some jobs were, batman,
  • Agent,Weeder, Bloomer
  • 20 shillings- 1pound
  • 12 pennies- 1shilling
  • NA money for college
In Colonial America some jobs were

BATMAN- an officer's servant in the army
AGENT- a person who acted on behalf of another person
WEEDER- a person who employed to remove the weeds from the gardens of the rich
BLOOMER- a person who produced iron from ore
SCHOOLMASTER- teacher
In colonial America, they used shillings and pounds. 20 shillings is equal to 1 pound. 12 pennies are equal to one shilling. Therefore, one pound equal 240 pennies ($2.40).
Also, there were wampums from the Native Americans. Citizens of Colonial America, used this to pay for college.

GREAT BRITAN VS. COLONIAL AMERICA

  • There are no kings in America
  • In C.A, the rich and poor weren't
  • As separated as in Europe
  • In E, there were lords that possessed
  • Mostly everything
In Colonial America there were no kings. The rich and the poor were more separated in Europe than in Colonial America. In Europe, there were great lords that possessed almost everything. Also, in America, it was easier to break free. Lastly, between 1770 and 1850 the economy changed.

  • Leaders
George Washington did not go to college. He led the colonial forces in the Revolutionary War. The Founding Fathers were political leaders and statesmen who participated in the American Revolution, by signing The Declaration of Independence.
