  • A place of ideal perfection, especially in laws, govn't and social conditions
  • Ruled by philospher-kings

WHAT IS A PLATONIC UTOPIA?

  • Plato believed in triangular politics
  • Kings/Guardians came first
  • Soldiers /Auxiliaries came next
  • Then, at the bottom were the producers

Guardians:

  • Only one who should make the laws in a community
  • Guided by their reason
  • Knowledgeable
  • Virtue - wisdom
  • Philosopher - Person who seeks wisdom

Auxilaries

  • Guided by their spirit
  • Courageous, Honorable
  • Virtue: Courage
  • Enforcers of the law

Producers

  • Led by their appetite
  • Only want pleasures
  • Virtue: Temperance (Denying any alcohol)
  • Ones who make the children
  • Providers of all needs

Batman:

  • Ruled under a corrupt government
  • Bane, villain who gets citizens in Gotham city to go against the government
  • Batman and the police have to come together to stop Bane's plan to destroy Gotham City
  • Bane releases the truth about Gotham city and its corruption

  • Led by their appetite when they side with Bane for their own well-being
  • and when they Agree to kill other people on the boat to save their own lives

  • Plato prefers a republican government (people's government) and this kind of govn't is the one promised to Gotham citizens
  • Gotham city seems like a good place for Plato's kind of government and forms to take place
