LIFE IN NORTHERN COLONIES

• In 1690 the population of the colonies was 25 thousand
• By 1754 the population grew to 2.5 million

• There were very few roads connecting the colonies so people had to travel through wood to find other settlements
• 90% of people lived near a river
• The colonies did not have just British immigrants but an abundance of other immigrants from other countries

• The New England colony made sure to educate there children
• All women were educated as well but was taught a lot about the bible

METACOMET

• An Indian chief was angry about the colonies and rallied men to attack the colonies
• They killed 10% of the town militia before they realized what was happening
• He destroyed 16 villages before they were smighted by english militia
