LIGHT WAVES

ARE TRANSVERSE WAVES

LIGHT WAVES WITH THE HUMAN EYE

Let us consider an Electromagnetic field. When there is a periodic disturbance in the electric and magnetic fields, we are able to see this Electromagnetic wave. These waves have a frequency that comes in the range of electromagnetic spectrum.

EYE HELPS US SEE

  • The very back of the eye is lined with a layer called the retina which acts
  • The retina is the membrane hag contains nerve cells that line in the back
  • wall of eye. The center 10% of retina called macula.
  • Responsible for sharp vision or reading vision

CAN WE SEE LIGHT WAVES

  • Visible light waves are the only electromagnetic waves we can see.
  • We can see these ways as the color of a rainbow

WHAT DO LIGHT WAVES DO TO OUR EYE

WE CAN SEE LIGHT WHEN IT REFLECTED OFF PARTICLES

LIGHT WAVES RESPOND TO THE EYE

LIGHT WAVES REFLECT ON THE HUMAN EYE

LIGHT WAVE FACTS

  • Waves with a length of between 0.4 and 0.7 micrometers can be detected by the human eye.
  • As you look around the room, everything you see has these waves bouncing off of them
  • Shorter visible light wavelengths are bluer in color, while longer visible light wavelengths are redder in color.

LIGHT WAVES

  • The wavelengths detectible by the human eye represent only about 3%
  • Of the total electromagnetic spectrum

LIGHT WAVES HELP US BY

  • So we can see
  • Learn about light
  • So our eyes see

EYE FACTS

  • The world’s most common eye colour is brown.
  • 20 vision simply means that you have normal vision.
  • eyes remain the same size from birth.

WE CAN SEE BECAUSE

  • We are able to see because light from an object can move through space and reach our eyes.
