Effective Limits:

  • Clear
  • Consistent
  • Involve specific time / amount
  • Require kind, firm follow-through
  • Teach child to be responsible

When limits are not honored:
First, seek solutions.
If necessary, use logical consequences.

Personal Boundaries
•define conscious, healthy ways to protect oneself and one's own dignity

Healthy boundaries
come from love...
not fear.

Examples of boundaries include refusing to:

  • break the law or bend the rules
  • compromise your moral values
  • allow someone to get too close to you
  • allow someone to be too physically close
  • allow someone to impose on your time/space
