asking her to stop the trade of opium for tea
But the letter was never delivered to the queen.

He was sent to exile in XinJiang

For the losses of JiangSu and Zhejiang
They were unprepared when the British forces attacked.

But he was still considered as a rare virtue and eventually reinstated him to take care of several difficult situations(this is after he was sent in exile)

lin zexu

was accepted as a national hero for his role in the Opium War
He is most recognized for his conduct and his constant position on the "high moral ground" in his fight, as a "shepherd" of his people, against the opium trade in Guangzhou.

Lin's forceful opposition to the trade on moral and social grounds is considered to be the primary catalyst for the First Opium War of 1839–42.
