HISTORY

  • discovered by Johann August in 1817
  • isolated first by William Thomas Brande and Sir Humphrey Davy.

USES

  • Lithium is used in many batteries
  • Lithium Carbonate (in small doses) is used to treat some depression disorders. (Bipolar, Manic Depression Disorder)
  • Lithium is combined with other metals to make strong, light metals that can be used for aircrafts.
