  • Known in Adirondacks

What is causing the acid rain?

  • It's caused by a chemical reaction
  • They mix with a reactant and produce acid rain

  • Nitrogen & harms the algae
  • Gets in your system & destroys your insides
  • Sulfur dioxide

Why is it susceptible to acid rain?

  • Acid water is attracted more toward sensitive bodies waters
  • Erosion

  • Low buffering capacity as susceptible to damage from acid rain
  • The acid rain is attracted to the soil so they mix

What kind of damage is really occurring?

  • Effects animals
  • Effects plants in the marshes/ponds/wetlands
  • Gets into trees & damages their growth

  • Harmful to inhale - diseases
  • Aluminum in the soil - trees can't take in water as easy
