ONE-CPC: PRESS RELEASE

Say hello to Gordon & Leona, a local couple whose entrepreneurial livelihood involves work such as performing, video production & writing, thus they are classified as creative & cultural workers.
A few years back, they felt an urge to create a way or system of ways on how to improve their working habits and connect with other local artists & entrepreneurs with an objective of finding local demand(s) for their creative expertise & skills. This turned into a couple of years filled with networking, research, one-on-one interviews, consultations, meetings, questionnaires and surveys, all conducted within their immediate area. One of their biggest and consistent findings was the need for affordable & equal access to media & marketing. Small business proprietors expressed the need for a simple and consistently affordable advertising and networking infrastructure not just online but also in other media platforms such print and people & place-based neighbourhood networking. This is where LENNS comes in to play LENNS stands for LOCAL EYES NEIGHBOURHOOD NETWORKING STRATEGIES.
The next significant finding was the fact that unemployment & underemployment was/is increasing, leaving hundreds of local creative & cultural industry persons with a whole lot time on their hands. All too often this leaves creative workers desperately seeking new ways to make some extra money, get training with next to no funding and gaining real-world experience within their chosen field to further their career and in the process, contributing to their community. This is another clear indication of a need for LENNS.
BRING OUT THE PEP-CYCLES
The PEP Cycle is an answer to affordable ad tactics. So, PEP stands for Print, Electronic and People/Place-based advertising & distribution methods. Each method has several ways to carry out immediate promotional & information-distribution tasks.
THE SPIN CYCLES
SPIN stands for Story-telling, Promotions, Information and Networking. These four strategies are for medium to long term marketing campaigns for localized events, projects, business and brands, etc. Both ‘Cycles’ can work off each other. They chose the word cycle because to get your messages ‘out there’ effectively, you have to repeat them in a structured way to cut through the over stimulation of media and advertisements from major multi-international conglomerates. Everything ONE-CPC does is exclusive to neighbourhood residents, locally based small biz, artists & performers as well as organizations.
When each of us contributes our own special gifts & talents to our own communities, we can help to ensure that our neighbourhood economy as well as our people who live and work in it, thrives for many years to come.
THE INNOVATIONS, THE PIONEERING IMMIGRANTS, OUR NEIGHBOURHOOD HISTORY!
We support independent proprietors like; family businesses, home-based businesses, multi-cultural businesses and independent vendors because they have each contributed to the development & building of our neighbourhoods in Toronto. At ONE-CPC-LENNS-PBS ONE & QRShopping.ca, we believe it’s now our turn to help people to remember our history, the innovations, and all of the pioneering these entrepreneurs have accomplished over the decades. Now, if we can lend a creative hand here and a bit of high tech there to help these same businesses promote themselves then that would be great! May 2015 By: Leona Sackaney & Gordon King Welke
