Biography
Born in Honolulu, Hawaii
Father was an army officer
Spent her elementary school years in Carlisle, Pennsylvania.
During the summer of her sixth grade Lois Lowry and her family moved to Tokyo with her dad and completed her 7th and 8th grade years.
Returned to New York, and finished high school.
Went to Brown University in Rhode Island while her family was living in Washington D.C.
Has an older sister named Helen and a younger brother named Jon.

Events
Dropped out of Graduate school and married Donald Lowry in 1956.
In 1958, while living in Connecticut where her daughter Alix is born.
In 1959, while living in Florida her son was born.
Another daughter and son were born in Cambridge Massachusetts.
In 1962, Lois's sister died from cancer.
Lois Lowry received her degree from the University of Southern Maine in 1972.
Divorced in 1977.
Lois received the first Newbery Medal for Number the Stars in 1990.
Lois received another medal for The Giver in 1994.
