WHERE DID THE ANGLO-SAXONS SETTLE?

  • When the Anglo- Saxons arrived in Britain most kept clear of Roman towns.
  • They prefered to live in small villages.
  • However, warrior cheifs knew that a walled city made a good fortress.
  • Some roman towns, like london ,were never completely abandoned.
  • Many Roman buildings were did become ruins though, because no one could repair them

ANGLO SAXON LONDON FACTS

  • Anglo saxon period was to the 7th century to 11th century.
  • In london was a Roman invasion.
  • They renamed a place and called it London.
  • In those days London wasn't the capital city.
  • Edward died in 1065bc ,his succeser Harold was crowned in the new abbey.

ANGLO SAXON FACTS

  • England means land of the angles.
  • Language closer to modern German than modern English.
  • When the Romans arrived, they found the land inhabited by "Britons."
  • London had been abandoned in the late 5th crntury.
  • After the Romans left, London fell into decline.
