ANATOMY

  • The Longnose Dace has an overall spotted dark coloration with some dark spots on the caudal fin.
  • It also has a very small, not easily seen, barbel in the corners of its mouth.

BREEDING

  • In the spring and summer, females will release sticky eggs that adhere to surfaces in the river.
  • Within a year, females can produce up to 10,000 eggs.

HABITAT

  • The Longnose dace can be found in faster moving, shallow, wavy water.
