In Lord of the Flies their are complications dealing with leadership. A place this is demonstrated when the author describes the scene,"They liked an now respected him. Spontaneously they began to clap and presently the platform was loud with applause"(37). This shows that the boys respect Ralph and it shows the leadership towards him.

Another place the boys find authority is when they talk about the conch. Ralph is explaining that when you have it you get to speak. He says,"That's what this shell's called. I'll give the conch to the next person to speak. He can hold it when he's speaking"(33). This reflects authority in the boys when they speak and their is not chaos with everyone talking.

In Lord of the Flies, the boys deal with some difficulties. In order to get off the island, the boys have a fire for a signal.
"Ralph said no more, did nothing, stood looking down at the ashes round his feet"(72). This Suggests that Jack has proved Ralph wrong when leaving the fire to burn out right when a ship passed by.

Lastly another quote that describes leadership is the conch. It symbolizes the power when speaking and Ralph says,"They'll come when they hear us-"(16). This reveals that they know the conch sounds.

Jack is talking and he says that they will not interrupt the person talking except him. This is false because he is not the chief Ralph is. He explains,"And he won't be interrupted. Except by me"(33). this shows the power of that Jack thinks he has but he actually does not.
