LOUISIANA PURCHASE
The Louisiana purchase was the best achievement made by Thomas Jefferson .
Thomas purchased the land in 1803 from the emperor of France, Napoleon .
The Louisiana purchase was purchased for 15 million dollars.
America could not afford to buy Louisiana so thy borrowed the money from Great Britain at a 6% intrest

In 1801 France and Spain crated a secret treaty and agreed France to keep the Louisiana territory
France posed a threat to America and if America didn't purchase New Orleans from Napoleon then it might of lead to war
Thomas sent messengers to go purchase New Orleans but instead they returned with an agreement to purchase the Louisiana territory .

LOUISIANA PURCHASE
With the purchase of Louisiana territory the American territory expanded twice its original size.
The southern and western boundaries were not included in the purchase Spain still owned these parts .
America would have to deal with Spain to work out the boundaries .
Thomas then sent Louis and Clark on an expedition to explore this new land.

Manifest destiny was when the Americans believed they're destiny was to expand west.
Manifest destiny is when Americans started settling west .
Manifest destiny was when many Americans agreed to move west

During manifest destiny many believed we shouldn't expand west
Many believed the land belonged to Mexico .
Others were afraid to go to war for the second time they believed the land was rightfully owned by Mexico.

It expanded the territory
It gave us more recourses
It gave us a bigger place to civilize
It gave us the Mississippi and more ways to trade with other countries
No threat from France
