Four Main Types of lung cancer

  • non-small cell lung cancer
  • small cell lung cancer
  • lung carcinoid tumor
  • lung malignant tumor

non-small cell lung cancer:
This is the most common lung cancer there is. About 85% of lung cancers are non-small cell cancers.

Small Cell Lung Cancer:
Small cell lung cancer is also called oat cell lung cancer. About 10-15% of lung cancers are small cell lung cancers. This type of cancer spreads rather quickly.

Lung Carcinoid Tumor:
Fewer than 5% of lung cancers are lung carcinoid tumors. They are sometimes called Neuroendocrine tumors. Most of these tumors slowly grow and rarely spread.

Malignant Tumors:Malignant tumors are the more dangerous ones which spread either through the bloodstream or the lymphatic system. Metastasis refers to cancer spreading beyond its site of origin to other parts of the body. When cancer spreads its hard to treat it successfully.

Types Of Common Cancers

What is the genesis of  Lung Cancer

How it all starts:
Lung cancer is a type of disease that starts in the small tissue of the lung. In many cases, it begins by forming cells that are in the persons air passages. Lung cancer comes in two different forms small and non-small cell. In order to diagnose the type of cancer, doctors have to look at the cells with a microscope.
