THE WITCHES PREDICTIONS START TO COME TRUE

• He is crowned Thane of Cawdor
• Now he's hungry for power and wants to be king

DUNCAN CROWNS MALCOLM PRINCE OF CUMBERLAND

• This puts Malcolm in line for king
• Macbeth wants to get rid of him

LADY MACBETH SUGGESTS MURDER

• Macbeth likes this idea

DUNCAN TO MACBETHS CASTLE

• They come up with a plan to kill him that night
• Macbeth is second guessing the plan
• He thinks that Duncan is a good king and feels guilty.

LADY MACBETH WISHES SHE WAS A MAN

• She wants to do the murder herself and says, "unsex me here."
• She tells Macbeth she would do it if she told him she would.
• She says, "I would, if it was smiling in my face...dash the brains out."

IT'S TIME FOR MACBETH TO KILL DUNCAN

• He imagines a dagger in his hand because he is nervous

A BELL RINGS WHEN IT'S TIME TO KILL DUNCAN

MACBETH ENTERS THE ROOM

• He keeps the lights off
• He's afraid to show his face

DUNCAN WAKES UP AND ASKS WHO'S THERE

MACBETH IS ACTING LIKE HE'S DRUNK

HE HUGS DUNCAN

MACBETH GOES IN FOR THE HUG

MACBETH LEAVES THE ROOM

MACBETH OVER HEARS A PRAYER

• He can't say Amen.
• He feels like he's lost his connection with God.

HE RETURNS TO LADY MACBETH

• He tells her that he has done the deed.
• They seem nervous about getting caught.
• She is angry because he brought back all the evidence.

SHE EASES UP ON MACBETH

THEY "WASH" AWAY WHAT THEY DID WITH WATER

MACBETH AND LADY MACBETH PUT THEIR PAJAMAS ON
