Macbeth

Plot Summary

Macbeth, along with his friend Banquo meet three witches who inform them that Macbeth will become thane of Cawdor and ultimately king.

Macbeth becomes Thane of Cawdor; this leads him to believe that the witches were telling the truth. He tells his wife and in order to hurry the process of Macbeth becoming King, they plot to kill the current king, King Duncan.

In fear, Duncan's sons run away. Banquo becomes suspicious and because of this, Macbeth kills him. During a banquet, Macbeth is visited by Banquo in ghost form, Macbeth then visits the witches again.

The witches tell him to be aware of Macduff, a Scottish nobleman who had fled to England. They also inform him that he cannot be harmed by any man born of a woman.

Macbeth orders for Macduff's family to be killed, however he fails. One of Duncan's sons, Malcom, raises an army to defeat Macbeth. Lady Macbeth commits suicide. Because of what the witches had told him, he believes himself to be invincible. He then discovers that Macduff was born of a caesarean and is killed.
