CARBOHYDRATES

  • Carbohydrates-is a large biological molecule, or macromolecule, consisting only of carbon, hydrogen ,and oxygen
  • Ex.Glucose or fructose.
  • Cereal, brain, grain, and rice at also examples of carbohydrates
  • Function:Providing energy and regulation of blood glucose

LIPIDS

  • Lipids are a group of naturally occurring molecules that include fats, waxes, sterols, fat,and vitamins
  • Examples of lipids:
  • Lipids are basically fats and steroids. There are a lot of things that have lipids in them.
  • Like animal fat, grease, and cream those are the main three categories
  • Function:Store energy (for longer usage as compared to carbohydrates)

PROTEIN

  • Proteins-are large biological molecules, or macromolecules, consisting of one or more
  • chains of amino acids.
  • Examples:
  • fibrous, globular, and membrane.
  • Function: Protein is involved in the creation of some hormones

NUCLEIC ACIDS

  • Cellular molecules that carry genetic information
  • Examples:
  • RNA and DNA
  • Function:
  • allow organisms to transfer genetic information from one generation to the next
