This paper is about Mae Jemison.
I selected her because after reading Freedom Walkers I thought Mae Jemison would be a great person to learn about.
Was the first African American women to be accepted into the astronaut training program.
She went into space on September 12, 1992 on a spaceship called Endeavor.
Was the first African American women astronaut in space.

CHILDHOOD
Was born on October 17,1956 in Decatur, Alabama.
Youngest of three children Ava Jemison and Charles Jemison.
Her parents are Charles and Dorothy Jemison.
At age 3, she moved to Chicago, Illinois.
She loved to read and science and reading were her favorite subjects.

EDUCATION
Went to a Chicago public school (unknown).
At age 12 graduated from eight grade.
At age 12 went to Morgan Park High School.
In 1973, she graduated from Morgan Park.
Attended Stanford University and earned a BS in chemical engineering and a BA in African American studies.

ACCOMPLISHMENTS
The first African American woman in space.
Established The Jemison group.
She earned a BS in chemical engineering and a BA in African American studies.
In 2001She published a biography Find Where the Wind Goes: Moments From My Life.
She joined the Peace Corp as a medical doctor and took care of sick people in Kenya, Africa.
Was in the movie The Red Dress Collection and Star Trek

Mae Jemison's impact was positive.
The contribution affected all women of the country especially African American women.
The contribution was intentional.
She did inspired other people.
