MAKING DAIRY

METAL WORK PROJECT

Step 1
In the first two lessons we researched different design movements such as :
de Stijl,Bauhaus,Art deco and Art Nouveau.

Step 2
In the third week we received our piece of copper and started cutting it into shape using a junior hacksaw with our pieces of copper in the table clamps.

Step 3
We were shown how to drill holes using the pillar drill, hold the copper with a hand clamp and push the drill down onto the copper.

Step 4
We were told to file the rough edges using either : a rough file if you had a lot to take off or a normal file if you had little to take off.

Step 5
We were then told we needed to make the edges really smooth due to aesthetic purposes . We were told to make them smooth using wet-and dry-paper.

Step 6
we were given an option to either cold form it or not . I didn't do it

Step 7
We were then told to planish our work which is done by hammering our work. This makes our work stronger

Step 8
We then covered our work in stop-out-varnish to stop the acid eroding our work

BANGLE

Step 1
Firstly we had to measure our wrists using paper and then try to find the piece closest to your measurements

Step 2
We then started to file our work first by cross filling and then after a while start draw filing

Step 3
Using wet and dry paper we were told to make the edges smooth by going over it in a circular motion

Step 4
We were then told to cover our work in stopout varnish for when it was going to get acid etched. We were then told to paint both sides of the bangel.

Step 5
Were then told to etch out some designs on our bangles using ordinary compasses which had to be inspired by your chosen art movement , mine was de stijl

Step 6
They were then put in acid we were then told told to sand the bangel to remove the stopout varnish.
