WHAT IS CLOUD COMPUTING?

To better understand cloud computing, let's first talk about how we currently work with a computer.

Most of us are used to desktop computing, where we store our files directly on our devices. For example, on your laptop you might save your files to My Documents. These files are physically located on the hard drive of your laptop.

IS A METAPHOR FOR THE INTERNET
The cloud is a metaphor for the Internet.

Imagine a cloud that contains your data and follows you around wherever you go.

The cloud is actually a world wide grid of data centers with servers.

YOU'VE PROBABLY BEEN CLOUD COMPUTING, YOU JUST DON'T KNOW IT.
There's a good chance you've been using the cloud already, you just might not know it. Smartphones operate in the cloud. Your email is also cloud based.

Advantages of moving to the cloud

The cloud is operating system independent, meaning that it doesn't matter if you're a PC, Mac, Android, or Other, the cloud speaks to all those.

Files are instantly synced across all your devices

Your folders in the cloud can be shared.

The cloud follows you wherever you go, so your files are always with you.

The benefits of cloud computing.

It's a simple, more efficient form of data management.

The ability to access your files from anywhere from any type of device.

Your files are automatically backed up in many different locations.

Your computer no longer has to do all the heavy lifting, meaning the hardware and software demands decreases.

SOME TIPS & TRICKS

FOR WORKING IN THE CLOUD
Be careful when accessing your cloud on public computers. Always be sure to log out.

Secure passwords are very important!

Keep your personal stuff in one place, your work stuff in another.

Don't go all in right off the bat.

You never have to go all in 100% with the cloud.
