With so many options out there, how do I decide which is the best electronic platform for managing volunteers? We will explore just a few of the myriad of options out there.

- paper sign ups do have their place
- many drawbacks
- lost paper
- can't easily distribute or view by others
There are instances where paper sign up sheets are appropriate but those are gradually disappearing as time passes.

How do I decide what platform?
Your particular parish or organization has unique needs and electronic volunteer management platforms should be evaluated based on your particular needs.

Let's first look at one time events
You may need people to bring baked goods for a one time sale. You may have some role where people volunteer once a year and then not again. Perhaps you help once a year at a parish festival or an annual picnic, etc. Free sites such a Sign up Genius would work well for this.

Google Forms
General information gathering
Google forms is a way to manage volunteers and have people sign up for volunteer opportunities - the main downfall to this is that all users must a) have a google account and b) you must share the document access with them

There are many ministries with a similar pool of volunteers AND repetitive dates/time slots
