LOCATION

  • It is in the continent of Australia.
  • It is in the country of Papua New Guinea
  • It is located on the Pacific plate.
  • It's boundary is convergent.
  • The cause of the volcano is subduction.

CLASSIFICATION

  • It is a stratovolcano
  • When it erupts it can be both effusive or explosive.

INFORMATION

  • In 2004 a very large eruption caused the whole island to evacuate.
  • This volcano is one of the longest records of historic eruptions.
  • The first known eruption was in 1616.
  • The last eruption was December 2014 - August 2015
  • The volcano is on the Northeast side of Papua New Quinea.

HAZARDS AND RISKS

  • When it has a big eruption it destroys crops, livestock, plants, grass, and it would effect the airlines.
  • There would be a risk for the people that live there because they would lose a lot of farm land, and crops.

CONCLUSION

  • I don't think that there will be another major eruption because it is constantly erupting.
  • There is no certain amount of time in between the major eruptions.
