PRESENTATION OUTLINE
Diet
Their diet is only plants, so they are classified as herbivores. Their split lip and flippers help them successfully capture and manipulate the food into their mouths.
Manatees have four rows of teeth that they use to grind up their food instead of swallowing it whole.
Manatees live in slow moving rivers, bays, canals, and coastal areas.
Manatees are not sexually mature until they are about five years old. Then, they may find a mate.
They are about ten feet long and weigh from eight hundred to one thousand two hundred pounds when full grown.
Manatees can live up to sixty years.
Manatees are more closely related to elephants than whales and sea lions.
