- Many people thought they had a god given right the expand westward.
- Farmers saw a future out west that there would be good land and gold!
- It was thought to be the great pioneer spirit that kept them going.
MANIFEST DESTINY
- There were also people that went west for religious freedom.
- Farmers that used slaves also though that it would be a good idea to move slavery eastward.
- Markets and businesses wanted to move west so they could sell goods to more people and make more money.
MANIFEST DESTINY
- The government saw moving into the middle of the country as a way to keep Spain, Russia, from attacking.
- Many thoughts were that moving west would reduce city population.
- Businesses saw this opportunity to expand there businesses
