Published on Nov 21, 2015

Volunteers work in Kirkbymoorside Manor Vale woodland clearing small trees to open the light and encourage wild flowers and insects.

PRESENTATION OUTLINE

Manor Vale woodland day

local volunteers help our 1000 year old wood

a beautiful day

to be in this lovely woodland

today's task

removing brash and some smaller trees

to let the light in

thereby encourage more wild flowers and insects

Timber!

some trees were brought down using a saw

But we had an expert too

with powerful tools

it might seem destructive

but only small areas were worked on

everyone enjoyed the day

and will look forward to seeing the results

More plants like this

will emerge from the shade

and the wood

which we built up by the end of the day

was just rewards

for the volunteers who had worked so hard
