DEFINITION OF THE DISORDER

  • The person with the disease can't break down certain proteins.
  • Urine smells like maple syrup
  • It affects the blood

DESCRIPTION OF THE SYMPTOMS

  • Loss of appetite, fussiness, and sweet smelling urine

CAUSE OF THE DISORDER

  • Body doesn't allow you to use your proteins
  • It is a mutation, it won't break down leucine, isaluecine, and valine
  • Then you have a dangerous amount of amino acid

HOW IS THE DISORDER INHERITED

  • Both parents must have the respective gene.
  • There isn't a particular chromosome it's located on
  • The disorder is ressecive

HOW IS THE DISORDER TREATED

  • It is treated by a protein diet

HOW IS THE DISORDER DIAGNOSED

  • It is diagnosed by the testing of blood
  • Genetic counseling isn't used

HOW MANY AND WHAT TYPE OF PEOPLE ARE LIKLEY TO GET THE DISORDER

  • It is common in the Amish people
