Marasmus Symptoms

  • General symptoms of marasmus include chronic diarrhea, dizziness, fatigue, and rapid weight loss. If the disease is caused solely by poor nutrition, then a change in diet should be enough to correct the problem and prevent recurrence.

  • Diet change

Melena Symptoms

  • Bleeding that takes place in the esophagus, stomach, or the first part of the small intestine most often causes the stool to appear black or tarry.
  • Bloody stool would be present

Treatments

  • The treatments depend on the causes of the melena.

Peritonitis Symptoms

  • tenderness in the abdomen, pain in the abdomen that gets more intense with motion or touch, abdominal bloating or distention, nausea and vomiting, diarrhea, constipation or the inability to pass gas, passing only a small amount of urine poor appetite.

Treatments

  • antibiotic treatments after being admitted to a hospital
  • Many cases require emergency surgery on things like appendicitis, a perforated stomach ulcer, or diverticulitis.
