What is it?

  • Marasmus is a severe form of malnutrition that consists of the chronic wasting away of fat, muscle, and other tissues in the body.

What is it?

  • Stool or vomit that is stained black by blood pigment or dark blood products.
  • Bleeding that takes place in the esophagus, stomach, or the first part of the small intestine most often causes the stool to appear black or tarry.

Peritonitis

What is it?

  • Peritonitis is inflammation of the peritoneum — a silk-like membrane that lines your inner abdominal wall and covers the organs within your abdomen — that is usually due to a bacterial or fungal infection.
