Early Life - Going to work

  • started working in textile mill
  • Witnessed a textille mill accident.
  • Invention notebook - fathers tool chest
  • Invented a stop motion machine .
  • Stop motion machine was used in all textile mills in her area.

PAPER BAG DREAM

  • Went to work in Massachusetts at a paper bag plant
  • Invents a machine that will make flat bottom paper bags
  • Within a month - sketch
  • Within half a year - wooden model
  • applied for patent

  • Charles Annan - attempted to steal her idea
  • Margaret takes him to court
  • Margaret wins in court and receives patent in 1871
