Importance of Marine Biology

  • To understand the world we live in
  • 71% of our Earth is ocean and it is still rising
  • No more than 5% of our oceans have been
  • explored

We need to understand the marine environment that helps support life on this planet

Trawling is a type of net. It will damage delicate Marine Species.

Plankton nets are, obviously, nets for catching plankton but they can be used for microscopic creatures.

ROVs are basically unmanned submarine robots that transmit information from unsafe places that people can't dive in because of health or hazards.

Underwater habitats are places underwater where people can live and research for certain periods of time. It is run by the NOAA. The places are 20 m underwater.

The NOAA stands for National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration

Fiber Optics are pieces of equipment that use LED lights and do not disturb marine life so that scientists can observe the natural behavior of Marine Life.

Satellites are used to collect data on the color and temperature of oceans.

Sounding is hydrophone, the counterpart of the microphone, which detect and record acoustic signals in the ocean.

Sonar is similar to Sounding except that it detects large objects in the ocean.

Computers are used to collect, process, analyze, and display data.

What courses you have to take if you go to UNH

  • b+ grades or higher
  • Four years of English
  • Three years of math

  • Three years of Science
  • Three years of Social Studies
  • Two years of one language

Marine Biologists make about $59,316 annually and about $4,943 monthly with the lifestyle I chose.

The Gables or Woodside

Color Code

  • My color was Yellow
  • One of the yellow jobs is Life Guard
  • Yellows are active (and also slightly annoying)
  • If one of the yellow jobs is Life Guard, that could mean they like water
  • I like water, being active, and I like animals
