The scientific name for seaweed is algae.
There are many types of seaweed. The type of seaweed that you can eat is called Cladosiphon. (Clad-oh-sy-fin)

Sea grass provides habitats for shrimp, fish, and plankton.
Sea grass grows in shallow water because it needs a lot of sunlight.

Kelp grows in cold coastal waters.
It is the largest marine plant in the world.
It can reach up to 250 feet.

MERMAID'S FAN PLANT
The Mermaid's Fan plant has a short stem that grows out of the "alive rock".
These plants form a fan like leaf that is oval to round in shape. This is where the sunlight reaches.
Only a few fish eat the plant.
This plant is found in the Caribbean.
