  • Distance from the Sun: 228 million km
  • Length of orbit around the Sun: 206 million km distance
  • Length of day: 1d 0h 40m
  • Length of year: 687 days

Mars' Moons

  • Mars has two moons, Phobos and Deimos
  • According to Roman myth, Mars (a God) rode on a chariot pulled by two horses named Phobos and Deimos (meaning fear and panic). The two small moons of Mars are named after these two mythical horses.

how did mars get its name? Who DISCOVERED it?

Weekly Weather Report

  • Summer: This week, daytime temperatures will reach to a high of 20 C near the equator. And will drop to -90 C.
  • Winter: This weeks temperatures will stay as low as -140 C. And the carbon dioxide in the atmosphere freezes and becomes dry ice.

Daily weather Report

  • Summer: Today it may get up to 20 degrees C near the equator, but at night the temperature will plummet to about -73 C. At night frost will forms on the rocks, but as dawn approaches and the air will get warmer, the frost will turns to vapour, and there is 100% humidity until it evaporates.
  • Winter: Today near the poles temperatures can get down too -125 degrees C.

Storm Report

  • Today dust storms will cover the entire planet for a whole mouth. This won't happen often, but smaller dust storms are quite common. During dust storms the power output of our solar panels will decrease.

Entertainment

What fun things can you do on mars?

SALT CASTLE
NASA’s evidence for water includes the presence of “hydrated salts” along what appear to be water-formed lines in the ground so…build a tower of pure white sodium! Build it to the sky!

Stargazing differently
Camp out on the space beach and gaze up at an unobstructed view of the stars, which will probably look a little funny because you’re on the wrong planet.

Dust Surfing
Experience 100% pure adrenaline when you dust surf the break of one of the largest dunes in the solar system.

Climb Olympus Mons
Ascend the highest mountain in the entire solar system. Have a race with your friends to see who can get there first!

Super Low-G Martian Arts
Travel to Phobos, a moon of Mars, for a spectator sport unlike any other. Aerial gymnastics, complete with flips, flying, and mid-air somersaults characterise this athletic contest.

mars vs earth

WHO IS BETTER MARS OR EARTH?

what Mars made of?

  • Mars: is made of a red dust. Underneath that red dust consists mostly of volcanic basalt rock. The soil of Mars also holds nutrients such as sodium, potassium, chloride and magnesium.

What is earth made of?

  • Earth: Is made up of rock containing silicon, iron, magnesium, aluminum, oxygen and other minerals. The rocky surface layer of Earth, called the crust, is made up of mostly oxygen, silicon, aluminum, iron, calcium, sodium, potassium and magnesium
