Martin de Leon was born in Mexico in 1765. He loved the outdoors and so did his wife Patricia de Leon. He married Patricia at the age of 30 and had his first son 3 years later in 1798 who later took control of the colony in 1833.

Two years later Martins second child Candelaria de Leon was born and soon martin had eight more kids 2years later martins third child Silvestre was born Martins 4th child Guadalupe de Leon was born only two years after Silvestre

Martin also was a rancher and empresario some one who brought people to Texas for Mexico he soon be came very wealthy he made most of his fortune form his ranch and being a empresario and soon he moved to Texas himself

Soon Martin with the help of Patricia decided to build a colony and established it in 1824 only 9years before he died and he brought 41families to it then in 1833 Martin de Leon the man who made the city of Victoria died of cholera his son Fernando took control of the colony in 1833 until he died in 1853 Martin de Leon never saw his colony become the city of Victoria

- While in charge of the colony Fernando de Leon was captured by the Mexican general Jose urrea in 1836 a long with several of his siblings
