When was he born?

Martin Luther King Jr. was born on January 25, 1929. At that time, almost all of the places in the United States were segregated. African Americans were discriminated and could not use the same public facilities as whites. Martin was born into a very religious family with a line of pastors, starting with his grandfather. Martin's birth name was Michael, but he changed it soon after.

Where was he born?

Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Was born in Atlanta, Georgia.

Where Did King Go To School?
King attended Yonge Street Elementary School and Booker T. Washington High School. He skipped the ninth and eleventh grade. He entered Morehouse College at the age of 15! In 1948, he attended Crozer Theological Seminary in Pennsylvania. After a while, he attended Boston University. He completed his Ph.D. and was awarded his degree in 1955, when he was only 25!

  • King served as a civil rights activist
  • He was also a minister at his church

GOALS

Dr. Martin Luther King Jr.'s number one goal was to end segregation with the use of nonviolence.

  • His sentence was extended to 100 years soon after

WHAT YEAR DID THIS HORRIBLE ACT TAKE PLACE?

IT TOOK PLACE ON APRIL 4, 1968.

He was married to Coretta Scott King.

King had 4 children. Their names were Bernice King, Yolanda King, Dexter Scott King, and Martin Luther III.
