mass part 1

  • Mass is the same and does NOT change.
  • Even if you are in space mass stays the same.
  • Mass is measured with balance. 
  • The item you are trying to find the mass of goes in the red container.

mass part 2

  • Mass is how much "stuff" an object has.
  • Example:
  • if you find the mass of a rock but break that rock the mass changes.

weight part 1

  • Weight can change , when you grow up your weight changes.
  • Weight depends on how much gravity is there ,  in space your weightless. 
  • If the pull increases the weight does too.
  • If the pull decreases the weight does too.

weight part 2

  • Example:
  • When you are on earth you have a weight ,
  • but in space you don't have any weight.

  • Mass is measured in grams or kilograms .
  • You use a balance to measure mass.

how to measure weight

  • Weight is measured in newtons or pounds.
  • to measure weight you use a scale.
