THE PROBLEM

  • Tyrone's mom gave him 103$ to get some groceries.
  • He gets 3 gallons of milk and 5 loafs of bread.
  • One gallon of milk costs $6 and one loaf of bread coasts $3
  • How much change will Tyrone have left when he is done shopping?

Solving the Problem

  • Equation: 103-(5x3)+(3x6)=G
  • 3 gallons x $6 = $18
  • 5 loafs x $3 = $15

Solving the Problem

  • Equation : 103-(15+18)=G
  • Follow Order of Operations
  • 103-33=G
  • G=$70.00

The Solution

  • If Tyrone went to the groceries store
  • with $103 and bought 3 gallons of milk
  • for $6 each and 5 loafs of bread for $3 each,
  • he would receive $70.00 dollars change.
