COMMUTATIVE PROPERTY

  • Definition: swap numbers but still get the same thing
  • Example: 4+5 then use commutative property 5+4
  • Remember only use for adding and multiplication

ASSOCIATIVE PROPERTY

  • Having the same thing on the other side of the equal but different order
  • 5+(5+7) = 7+ (5+5)
  • Remember to always keep the same numbers

SYMMETRIC PROPERTY

  • Being able to change the equal sign around
  • 4+9=13 then switch it and its 13=4+9
  • Pretty much just changing where the equal sign is

INVERSE PROPERTY OF MULTIPICATION

  • Def: multiplying a number to equal a number less then its self
  • 5 x A=2 figure out A
  • A= 2 1/2

INVERSE PROPERTY OF ADDITION

  • A number added to its opposite number will-
  • Always equal 0
  • -5+5=0

IDENTIFY PROPERTY OF ADDITION

  • A number plus a 0 has to equal it's original number
  • 4+0=4
