Algebra

Matthew

Basic ALgebra

  • Its basically letters in an equation replacing a number in an equation
  • Or it could be a way to make one easier
  • Example: 4x equals 16, x is 4 because that means 4 times x is equal to 16.
  • You can also make equations.
  • Example: 2y + 32 equals 56

Try some questions!!!

  • 3x + 7a = 42. x + a = 10. x = ?
  • 4x + 2a = 30. x + a =15. 9x + 4a= 60x. x=?

Harder Algebra

An easier way

  • This is an easier way to do this kind  of algebra
  • Ex: 9x - 2y= 30. 7x+2y=18
  • So you add/subtract an equation from another.
  • 9x-2y=30 7x+2y=18 16x=48, x=3, lets solve the first with this!
  • 27-2y=30, 2y = negative two-thirds.

Cont.

  • negative two-thirds x two=negative 3.
  • the minus cancels the negative
  • 27+3=30, lets solve the second now!
  • 7x3=21, 21+2y=18. We know that -3 makes the + into a -
  • So 21-3=18!!!!!!

Area

Kai

Basic Area

  • So, you all know how to calculate area right?
  • But if you forgot, here's a review(Not really).
  • Let's say that you have a 24 x 5 rectangle.
  • Just Multiply the 24 and the 5 and you have the area.

Untitled Slide

Harder Area

  • Let's say that each square on the last page with the triangle is 7 cm2 .
  • For a triangle:
  • If you want to find the area, do the lengths times height divided by 2.
  • So lets say that it is 7cm2 and the length is 7cm then what is the height?
  • Height can mean H, and the bottom can mean length, base, or B.

Untitled Slide

The last slide(nope)

  • The triangle on the last slide
  • Lets say that its base is 5cm and the length is 4cm
  • What is the area?
  • It is 10cm2!

QUESTIONS AT THE END!!!!!!

Fractions

MATTHEW

Multiplying

  • We will learn how to multiply and divide Fractions.
  • The denominator is what makes it a fraction
  • When you multiply a fraction with a whole number
  • it makes the numerator bigger or gets rid of the denominator
  • example: two-thirds times 3 is 2 because 1-3rd times 3 is 1 .  Then 1 x 2.

Division

  • So when you multiply it goes to the numerator
  • When you divide, it goes to the denominator
  • For example: 2-5ths divided by 5 is 2-25ths

REMEmber!

Questions at the end.

Decimals

Kai

multiplying

  • This section shows you how to MULTIPLY!
  • so all you practically do is multiply the numbers.
  • for example: 3.89 x 5 is just simply 389 x 5 then add the decimal point.
  • so it's 1945, then add the decimal point, 19.45.

Division

  • Just like multiplying, you simply just divide.
  • 24.6 divided by 12.
  • Just 246 divided by 120. Which is 2.05

And we're done!!!!

THANK YOU!!!!! ~:)
