PRESENTATION OUTLINE

Transformation

A THOROUGH OR DRAMATIC CHANGE IN FORM OR APPEARANCE

isometry

AN ISOMETRY IS A TRANSFORMATION IN WHICH THE ORIGINAL FIGURE AND ITS IMAGE ARE CONGRUENT.

Translation

" MOVING WITHOUT ROTATING RESIZING OR ANYTHING ELSE, JUST MOVING TO TRANSLATE A SHAP:E

Composition of Transformations

When two or more transformations are combined to form a new transformation, the result

a geometric figure is reflected across a line creating a mirror image

Rotation

A central point that stays fixed and everything else moves around that point in a circle MOTION.

Symmetry

Symmetry is when one shape becomes exactly like another if you flip, slide or turn it.

reflectional symmetry

A type of symmetry where one half is the reflection of the other half

Rotational symmetry

the shape or image can be rotated some amount and it still looks the same

POINT symmetry

when every part has a matching part thatS the same distance from the central point

line symmetry

a line that divides a figure into two congruent parts, each of which is the mirror image

Dilation

is a similarity transformation in which a figure is enlarged or reduced using a scale factor

Glide REFLACTION

is a combination of two transformations: a reflection over a line followed by a translation
