MAYANS

WHAT ARE SOME APPEALING ARCHITECTURE MADE FROM THE MAYANS?

The mayans settled in Central America in southern Mexico.
They achieved many things such as a writing system, artworks and math.

TEMPLE OF THE GREAT JAGUAR

  • Built by mayan ruler Hasaw Kawil Ch'an
  • The temple was used for many rituals

STUCCO MASK QUIRIGUA

  • This historical site is found in south eastern Guatemala
  • The Quirigua represents king K'ak Tiliw Chan Yopaat

HOLMUL

  • One of the longest lived in city by the mayans.
  • The holmul began around 800 B.C.

RIO AZUL

  • This city had a population of 3500.
  • It was eventually commanded by the Tikal.

NAKUN

  • Abandoned city with graffiti all over.
  • First settled during the preclassic.

CANCUÉN PALACE

  • One of its name is "Entrance to the Mayan World"
  • The palace is a 3 story high structure

EL TIGRE

  • It would have reacged about 55 meters
  • It is one of the three "triadic" structures

LA DANTA

  • One of the "Triadic" structures
  • One of the largest pyramdis in the world

LAMANAI

  • Comes from the term "submerged crocodile"
  • A common trading site for the mayans

COPAN

  • This city was abandoned in the 10th century.
  • Home to about 20,000 people.

The Mayans lived mostly in Southern Mexico and Belize. The Mayan culture is still around today.
