McCarthyism is defined as the use of false charges and other unethical tactics to limit one's freedom of speech.
This violated the rights of the citizens of the United States of America because it took away the first amendment ( freedom of religion, speech, press, assembly, and petition).
McCarthy's entire practice was unconstitutional. Those who spoke against it were witches. He told us that innocent, law-abiding citizens that were loyal were guilty when he had no evidence to support his claim.
He even took away Habeous Corpus. This man scared America for four years. He used everything he could to his advantage.
