MEASELES

Causes

* is a highly contagious respiratory disease caused by a virus

Transmission

*Through coughing and sneezing

SYMPTOMS

• Appear after 7-14 days after infected
• High fever
• Little white dots in your mouth
• red/watery eyes
• Cough

SYMPTOMS (CONT...)

• Runny nose
• Spots appear in the whole body
• Fever over 104*F
• Then fades away

Prevention

- MMR vaccine: *12-15 months of age
*4-6 years of age

OUTCOME

• 6%- 20% of the people with measeles will develop complicationd
• Pregnant women may get miscarriage premature or low weight baby
• 1 or 2- 1,000 will die
• 1- 10 get ear infections or pneumonia
• 1- 1,000 develop encephalitis
