The strong causal connection between youth exposure to violence in the media and violence leads to aggressive behavior and thoughts.

Overall, today's youth are affected by the media in a number of ways, both positively and negatively. It also depends on the individual's personality because he or she ultimately has the power to select the media he or she consumes.

Media influence on teenagers can be deliberate by advertising being directed at children and teenagers. This means that children and teenagers are increasingly conscious of brands and images.

Media influence can also be more indirect. An example of this might be the increasing sexualization of content in advertising, magazines, television shows and music videos. These media products often show women with unrealistic body types and ‘sexy’ appearances.

  • people with the highest degrees watched less TV as kids and teenagers.
  • the kids who watch lots of TV have a lower literacy rate

STEREOTYPE

The media you are exposed to does not show people in a realistic way.

Some forms of media do not show the real diversity of the world.
