Trial by Jury

A group of people who decided whether a person on trial is guilty or innocent.

Common Law

King Henry Established a law throughout the kingdom

Magna Carta

Established that people have rights and that the power of the government has limited power.

Habeas Corpus

Kept people from being imprisoned  indefinitely with no claim to a trial.

Independent Judiciary

A justice system that is not influenced by  the legislative or executive branches.

Parliament

A group of people gathered from different parts of England to help the King make laws.
