WHERE'S JAPAN?

  • Japan is surrounded by water and volcanoes.
  • They have lots of earthquakes.
  • Japan is on the eastern side of Asia.

SOCIAL HIERARCHY

JAPANESE SHOGUN

  • Shogun were military ruler of feudal Japan, ranker under Emperor but held more power.
  • They commanded the samurai what to do.

SAMURAI

  • Samurai were specialized warriors that protected Japan.
  • Samurai had a unique fighting style, in battle they used martial arts and swords.
  • Samurai had to follow acode of honor called the Bushido.

SAMURAI

  • Seppuku: suicide with honor, commonly practiced by samurais after the death of their Daimyo of if they had caused discrace.
  • Samurai used spears, bows, and lots of swords, mainly the Katana.

FAMOUS SAMURAI IN HISTORY

  • Miyamoto Musashi, also known as Shinmen Takezō.
  • Miyamoto was an expert Japanese swordsman and rōnin.

JAPANESE RELIGION

  • Japan had two main religions they were Shinto and Buddism.
  • Buddism-the main religion of japan and is when someone tries to reach their dharma.
  • Shinto- the worship of ancestors and nature spirits.

JAPANESE GOVERNMENT

  • Japan had a feudal government
  • They had an emperor,shogun,daimyo, samurai,artisians,peasants,and merchants.
