There are many different services available for families and students to make the transition after highschool.

SSI- Supplemental Security Income is an income support program and provides monthly payments to an individual with a disibility who has limited income.

The SSI allows for an individual with disibilities the opportunity to live on their own and function within the community.

Medicaid is a state administered medical benefits program. Both children and adults with disabilities are eligible.

The medicaid program is a primary source of public funding for long-term services and supports for people with disabilities.

Both of these programs give support to people with disabilities to so that they are able to live their life to the fullest.

There are many different professionals in a community to help with the economical support of the family.

Teachers are a huge support. They must get the student ready and make the plan that will meet the student's needs.

Teachers help the student and their family to find the supports that they will need within the community.

Professionals are there to help and to make the transition and living process easier. It is important to use them as needed.

It is my job as an educator to make sure that my students are prepared for their life after highschool. I must make sure that they know of professionals in the community that will be able to help them succeed.
