PRESENTATION OUTLINE

MEIOSIS I

PROPHASE I

  • Each chromosomes duplicates.
  • Each chromosomes is visible under a microscope.
  • Each duplicated chromosome comes near its duplicated mate.

METAPHASE I

  • Pairs of duplicated chromosomes line up in the center of the cell.
  • Centromere of each chromatid is attached to the spindle fibers.

ANAPHASE I

  • The cytoplasm divides and two new cells form.

MEIOSIS II

PROPHASE II

  • Duplicated chromosomes and spindle fibers reappear in new cell.

METAPHASE II

  • Duplicated chromosomes move to the center of the cell.

ANAPHASE II

  • The centromere divides.
  • The chromatids separate and move to opposite ends of the cell.
  • Each chromatid now is an individual chromosome.

TELAPHASE II

  • The spindle fibers disappear.
  • Nuclear membrane forms around each set of chromosomes.

AFTER MEIOSIS II

  • The cytoplasm divides.
