PRESENTATION OUTLINE

ACCELERATION

  • A change in speed
  • This is an example of acceleration because there are changes of
  • direction and speed.

CENTRIPETAL FORCE

  • A forces that causes a object to go in a circle
  • This picture shows centripetal force because
  • of the shape of the track.

ENERGY CONVERSION

  • The process of changing one form of energy to another
  • This picture shows energy conversion because when you
  • are at the top of the hill you have PE the when you come down
  • the hill you have KE.

FORCE

  • A lift , push or pull
  • This picture shows force because when
  • the chain pulls the cart up the track then
  • it is at the top.

FREE FALL

  • When gravity is the only force acting on an object.
  • This picture shows free fall because when you get to the top
  • the only thing acting on the roller coaster is gravity.

FRICTION

  • When 2 surfaces rub together.
  • This picture shows friction because the cart and the
  • track and the cart are rubbing together.

GRAVITY

  • The force that pulls objects towards earth
  • This picture shows gravity because if we
  • did no have gravity then this roller coaster would
  • be floating in air.

KINETIC ENERGY

  • The energy of motion
  • This picture shows KE because the roller coaster
  • is moving so anytime anything is moving it has KE.

POTENTIAL ENERGY

  • When energy is stored
  • This picture shows PE because when
  • you are a the top of the roller coaster all the energy
  • is stored up and it has a potential to go some where.

MOMENTUM

  • Increases when the coaster goes faster and has more people in the car
  • This picture shows momentum because of gravity and momentum
  • is built up.

NEWTONS FIRST LAW ( INERTIA)

  • Why your body moves back when a roller coaster goes up
  • This picture shows newtons 1st law because if an
  • object is a rest it stays at rest if an object is in motion
  • it stays in motion unless it gets acted on by a unequal force.

NEWTONS SECOND LAW

  • The more force the more acceleration.
  • This picture shows Newton's second law
  • because the more people in the cart the faster
  • the faster you go.

NEWTONS THIRD LAW

  • For every action there is a equal and opposite reaction
  • This picture shows newtons 3rd law because when
  • the cart pushes on the track the track pushes back.

VELOCITY

  • Speed with direction
  • This picture shows velocity
  • because the roller coaster has speed
  • and direction.
