Metals

  • solid material that is typically hard and shiny.
  • About 75 percent of the chemical elements are metals. Of the 118 known elements, 91 are metals.
  • Silver, Copper, and gold are just 3 examples of metals.

Non-metals

  • Non-metals are not able to conduct electricity or heat very well.
  • non-metallic elements are very brittle, and cannot be rolled into wires or pounded into sheets.
  • Hydrogen, Carbon, and sulfur are 3 examples of Non-metals.

Metalloids

  • A metalloid is a chemical element with properties in between metals and nonmetals.
  • This property makes metalloids useful in computers and calculators.
  • Boron,Silicon and Germanium are 3 examples of Metalloids.
